Important things to know before heading for a Massage

Many people go for massage services to destress themselves after a hard day’s work. There are many types of massage services you available, from foot to full body massages.  We enjoy those relaxing moments and believe in the health benefits.

If you enjoy massages or frequent massage parlors, there are a few things you need to know:

Firstly, do you know that certain massage technique is a form of passive exercise that will leave your muscles feeling sore like after a good work-out? As such, you need to be careful that too much massage over the same spot could be counterproductive just as working the same muscles group excessively.  Hence, you must make sure you are getting the tissues warmed up with lighter strokes before deeper strokes are used.  Do remember to drink plenty of water and do light stretching exercise before the massage session.

Next, you need to know about the product that will be applied on your skin, especially if you have sensitive skin condition. Unless you have been tested negative for allergic reaction, it is advisable to choose acupuncture point massage where no oil or cream will be required.

Another important thing to note: massage is not recommended when you are feeling sick or fatigue.  It is also not advisable if you have any open wound or skin rashes.  As mentioned earlier, massage is a form of passive work-out, thus you will not want to overwork your body as it may be too much for the body to handle.

If you are unsure about getting a massage, consult  a trained massage therapist who can advise if you are suitable for massage services.
