Yummy mooncakes for Mid-Autumn Festival!

It’s Mid-Autumn Festival aka Mooncake Festival again!

We always love festivals!  This means we get to savour delicacies again! Yummy!

In this entry, we are reviewing some new flavours of mooncakes we found at Tampines 1 and some of our favourite good o’ goodies!

First up! New kid on the block, Awfully Chocolate presents their first ever Mooncake Collection!

Awfully Chocolate (#03-21)

Awfully Chocolate is well known for its rich and quality chocolate cakes and desserts. This year, they decided to come up with chocolate brownie mooncakes to lure the non-mooncake enthusiasts. We were attracted to its classic wooden box. This makes the mooncakes very presentatable….just perfect for shoppers who are giving the mooncakes as a gift to create an impression.

We tasted the chocolate brownie mooncakes and we love the delicious balance of salty and sweet butterscotch which lies within. It is quite delectable as the tinge of saltiness gives the mooncakes a yummy and unique taste!

The chocolate journey continues with chocolate mooncakes from Rive Gauche Patisserie!

Rive Gauche Patisserie (B1-13)

Rive Gauche Patisserie presents a classic chocolate sponge, raspberry ganache and topped with artisan fondant. What’s more, it has pretty auspicious flower designs. If you like crunchy chocolate on your mooncakes, this is the one for you!

The crunchy chocolate is made of dark chocolate, which is used to balance the raspberry ganache so that the mooncakes are not too sweet. Also a first for them, so do try them out!

Are you a snow skin mooncake lover? We are!

We are also fans of cute and delicately crafted mooncakes for our festive celebrations with our families!

Bakerzin presents the perfect mooncakes to our demanding desires!

Let’s check out the fillings!

Black Sesame, Pink Champagne and Rum & Raisin

For black sesame lovers, Bakerzin might be the must-go place for you this festival! Featuring a rich sesame filling and white chocolate core, this mooncake will on the top of your best fusion list.

Pink Champagne and Rum & Raisin are both alcohol infused mooncakes. Both feature a white chocolate core and white lotus fillings. The alcohol infused skin are soooo… heavenly. Now it’s easy to guess why they came up with the name for this collection.

The other two favourites in the collection are Brandied Cherries and Whisky Truffle Snow Skin Mooncakes.

I promised to revisit our favourite good o’ goodies, and here it comes!

Emicakes Durian Mooncakes!

Emicakes (B1-51)

Mao Shan Wang Durian Mooncakes: A box of 4 at $73.80

The Mao Shan Wang Durian mooncake features a soft chewy green skin with thick creamy durian pulp…. Slurp…..Seriously, who can resist Durian? Even in the form of mooncakes? We can’t! 🙂

If you are not a durian lover, please do try out the Crystal Skin D24 Durian mooncakes that feature a creamy durian filling which has a tinge of durian fragrance that might just win you over. A box of 4 D24 mooncakes is retailing at $63.80.

Next up……goodies from Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert!

Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert (B1-K12)

A box of 8 at $23.80

We decided to try out their unique flavours!

Red Bean with Sweet Potato

The sweet potato is a good substitute for salted egg yolks…. it is soft and sweet and complements perfectly with the red bean paste, which is not so sweet as compared to the traditional lotus paste.

Green Tea with Melon Seed

The green tea mooncake is our favourite! The paste is so tasty and it just melts in your mouth. The melon seeds are crunchy and goes really well with the soft green tea filling!

Last but not least, from The Icing Room!

The Icing Room (B1-K1)

Which one do you prefer?

We love this semi-traditional mooncakes!

The rabbit character is so adorable and appealing! And the gender of the rabbits depicts the flavour of the mooncakes! How cute is that?

A box of 6 mooncakes at $11.80

We tried out both flavours – the White Lotus and Red Bean mooncakes. It is  difficult to judge which is better! The crispy skin gives a saltiness to the flavour. Together with the salted egg yolk, the saltiness balances out the taste of the sweet paste. Definitely a value buy!

Are you tempted to head out to Tampines 1 for your mooncake shopping now?

We wish all shoppers and readers a Happy and Yummy Mid-Autumn Festival!

We will be enjoying the beautiful moon during the Mid Autumn Festival at our rooftop playground. Do come by and join us. 🙂
